When it looks to us as if we are reaching to God, know it to be as God reaching to us!
Have you ever seen something that looked
like one thing and yet was another completely,
this is the same here, the case of Jesus being
thought of as just a man, why then so resolutely
is the contrast emphasized, the lamb of God or
the lion of Judah, the people expected a lion…
and they got a lamb… the setting of the first coming,
the visitations of a Holy God, from God a scion
to be grafted into the lineage of mankind itself,
to become one with His own creation, now a part
of humanity Himself (not apart), to cleave and drive
us away from Him… nigh impossible, God’s heart.
Trained in human thought and expectation… we will miss the sight of what is found to be the most important part of living this life- finding God Himself. To realize (even) nature answers to His authority is to get a glimpse of God’s truth. Soon you’ll (hopefully) desire to see more… to be found in the flow of God’s understanding and not your own.

Luke 7:18-35 . THE BAPTIST’S MESSAGE THE REPLY, AND CONSEQUENT DISCOURSE.
justified God, being baptized… The meaning is, They acknowledged the divine wisdom of such a preparatory ministry as John’s, in leading them to Him who now spake to them (see Luke 1:16Luke 1:17 ); whereas the Pharisees and lawyers, true to themselves in refusing the baptism of John, set at naught also the merciful design of God in the Savior Himself, to their own destruction.

[Below is found under Matthew Henry’s Commentary- for these verses…Verses 19-35]
To his miracles in the kingdom of nature, Christ adds this in the kingdom of grace, To the poor the gospel is preached. It clearly pointed out the spiritual nature of Christ’s kingdom, that the messenger he sent before him to prepare his way, did it by preaching repentance and reformation of heart and life. We have here the just blame of those who were not wrought upon by the ministry of John Baptist or of Jesus Christ himself. They made a jest of the methods God took to do them good. This is the ruin of multitudes; they are not serious in the concerns of their souls. Let us study to prove ourselves children of Wisdom, by attending the instructions of God’s word, and adoring those mysteries and glad tidings which infidels and Pharisees deride and blaspheme.

5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
{Below is from Matthew Henry’s Commentary for the scripture above]
Christ stands as Mediator between God and both ministers and people. He is called a Lion, but he appears as a Lamb slain. He appears with the marks of his sufferings, to show that he pleads for us in heaven, in virtue of his satisfaction. He appears as a Lamb, having seven horns and seven eyes; perfect power to execute all the will of God, and perfect wisdom to understand it, and to do it in the most effectual manner. The Father put the book of his eternal counsels into the hand of Christ, and Christ readily and gladly took it into his hand; for he delights to make known the will of his Father; and the Holy Spirit is given by him to reveal the truth and will of God.
The lion and the lamb are one and the same!
