When the word of God is reduced to being thought of as quaint… even cunningly devised, or viewed as anything less than what it is… the word of God, is when the expression of thought becomes twisted. False assumptions will be rampant in regard to what God has told us in His word. Misconceptions and error will be supplanted for truth. This is not what aids the body of Christ (the Bride) and turns what would be shared into an aberration… something left more confusing to those willing to learn and void to meaning coming from God’s word. This is something believers have been told to be aware of… the number of false prophets in the last days will increase.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
The problem becomes ‘who indeed’ can tell us the truth of God’s word when there seems to be such confusion coming from what God requires of us all? If we can find something to try God’s word against what is being told to us… this is a good starting place to discover what is truthful and what is not- let’s start with marriage.
[This is from an article, by Norma Holt… found here in abstract below, and her comment on marriage.]
This is typical hocus pocus and nothing for the couple has actually changed. They can live together as they please and separate when things don’t work out.
… but she also says…
She proves conclusively that heaven and hell are tricks designed to manipulate people into believing in his Islamic religion.
This is being passed off as knowledge… and claims to be knowledgable about God and what He has said, or does it? Two things crucial to ‘truth’ you should know are God does not blend His word with that of any other source, and the god of Islam is not the Hebrew God of the Bible. Let’s go to the scripture and see what God has said… regarding marriage, heaven and hell. If someone can be wrong about marriage, to think less of it than God does, then how can they claim to know, conclusively, there is no heaven or hell?
Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
[The abstract below is from Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology (found here)- the topic is Marriage.]
The Marriage Union as God’s Work. God brings a man and a woman together in marriage ( Matt 19:6 ; cf. Eve to Adam, Rebecca to Isaac ). It is not humankind’s prerogative to separate what God has chosen to put together ( Matt 19:6 ). As creator of the marriage relationship, God becomes the essential supporting party to a marriage, giving wisdom, discretion, understanding, and love to protect the union and to enable it to honor God ( Prov 2:6-16 ; 1 Cor 13 ).
To think that the institution of marriage has been cleverly crafted/created by man is to think wrongly on the subject, presupposes the purpose and (literally) robs God of the credit, purpose and design- to reflect (mirror) the Trinity… a covenant between God, man and woman.
For a different look at ‘what marriage is’ and what it may also mean to others- find it here. There are a few other comparisons offered, two from Chinese sources, one by its legal term and what God says, again… the primary source and reason for marriage from the beginning– for the benefit of both, man and woman alike. As to what the Bible tells us about hell, specifically, this comes by way of the words of Jesus Himself.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Jesus spoke more about hell than any other subject, real enough for Him to die for the sins of us all… to pay the debt of sin for us (a propitiation for the sins of man and mankind) and all in effort to keep us from having to go there from the debt of sin. If there is no hell… then there would be no need for Jesus to die as He did, would there? This leads me to conclude there is a hell and we must take it very seriously, Jesus did!
