Strive for happiness in all you do…
know it might not happen but it’s true
you will have given it your best… all
you can humanly do, fulfill God’s call
for your soul to reach out for others-
even despite those that it bothers…
for brothers and sisters, God is not small!
Seek God with an openness of heart…
always, this is the place we should start,
and know the scoffers will fall behind
you when you stand for Him and find
those He directs into your sudden path,
don’t be sooner surprised or see wrath…
for brothers and sisters, God sought are kind!
There are no severed branches in this life
lest they are so done by man and strife,
to walk with our God is to see His will done,
to go where He sends us for love of one…
the lost are His too if they desire it so,
pray for mankind not on mankind, just to know…
for brothers and sisters, God is not done!
Psalms 103:17-18 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— 18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
[Below is also from Matthew Henry… on Psalms 11:4]
– Those that truly fear¹ God and serve him, are welcome to put their trust in him. We are concerned to hold these fast against all temptations to unbelief; for believers would be undone, if they had not God to go to, God to trust in, and future bliss to hope for. The word is nigh us, and God in the word; his Spirit is in his saints, those living temples, and the Lord is that Spirit. This God governs the world. We may know what men seem to be, but God knows what they are, as the refiner knows the value of gold when he has tried it. God is said to try with his eyes, because he cannot err, or be imposed upon. If he afflicts good people, it is for their trial, therefore for their good.
[From Matthew Henry’s Commentary on Psalms 103 below]
How short is man’s life, and uncertain! How unlike are those to God, who take every occasion to chide, and never know when to cease! What would become of us, if God should deal so with us? The Scripture says a great deal of the mercy of God, and we all have experienced it. The father pities his children that are weak in knowledge, and teaches them; pities them when they are froward, and bears with them; pities them when they are sick, and comforts them; pities them when they are fallen, and helps them to rise; pities them when they have offended, and, upon their submission, forgives them; pities them when wronged, and rights them: thus the Lord pities those that fear him. See why he pities. He considers the frailty of our bodies, and the folly of our souls, how little we can do, how little we can bear; in all which his compassion appears.
1… fear: tremble; to fear, be afraid- please understand (in Psalms 103:17-18) the cross reference(s) are seen here…
- 31 103:17 – S Ge 48:11 ; S Ezr 9:12
- 32 103:18 – S Dt 29:9
- 33 103:18 – Ps 119:52
- 34 103:18 – S Nu 15:40 ; Jn 14:15 ; Dt 7:9
There are many words for ‘fear’ used in the Bible and (clearly) in Greek there are even more definitions, i.e. Tremo, Eulabeomai, Phobeo, Phrisso, Emphobos, Ea, Tarasso, Prosdokao, Elpis or (lastly here… but the list goes on, please look here) Sebazomai. Find (more) comfort in the meaning of ‘fear’ in the last two- Elpis and Sebazomai. This is where ‘knowing of evil’ turns one to ‘a hopeful expectation’ meant for those who keep His Covenant and obey His precepts– Joy found inthe confident expectation of eternal salvation.
