The most amazing and important aspect to Easter (and I will refer to it as ‘Passover’ from this point on) is the offering which was made was for the salvation of mankind- all mankind. Up until this point in human history, the things done by God were: to protect His people, for knowing their enemy or for standing by His covenant and promise- as all to God’s glory and presence to be known. Yes… God wants to be known, not just for protecting His people but wants all humanity (every tribe, nation and people) to know of His own Son’s sacrifice (when God became man to give a blood sacrifice) and its purpose for it. The purpose for Jesus to die on the cross was always the salvation of humanity itself- taken to the individual level… for God to be personally known. Do you not know your neighbor? This is the same thing here, as Jesus called Himself ‘the son of man’ and God The Father, at the Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, declared openly,”This is my Son in whom I’m well pleased”. The ‘Paschal lamb’, The Messiah, had come.
The world has many images and myths to point to… similarities to the same event (to which I’d call them small mirrors to look or sound like the actual events of the death of Jesus) but the Gospels all tell from eyewitness accounts of the resurrection of Jesus Christ- God Himself. The large mirror to the life of Jesus will come when the anti-christ makes his presence known throughout the world. The opposite of love [rebellion to God’s word] and his cry to kill all Jews will be heard.
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
This cannot be emphasized upon more than the thoughts of Matthew Henry [found also below but at this link… and but this one abstract (to be read first) comes by way of Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology] and his commentary.
In Jesus’ teaching salvation is linked to the advance of God’s kingdom, which is in turn linked to Jesus’ own person. By using God’s kingdom as a circumlocution for salvation, Jesus deepens the Old Testament conviction that salvation belongs to God, for the kingdom signifies a sphere of reality in which God reigns sovereign. The disciples themselves responded to Jesus’ teaching about the kingdom with the question “Who then can be saved?” ( Mark 10:23-26 ). That Jesus understood himself to be that bringer of God’s kingdom is evident in the claim following his synagogue reading, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” ( Luke 4:21 ). Salvation belongs to those who follow Jesus, bringer and embodiment of God’s kingdom.
16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21 and he began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
The commentary (in abstract) of Matthew Henry…
The Holy Spirit is not the author of a timid or cowardly disposition, or of slavish fears. As is usual with Paul, when he mentions Christ and his redemption, he enlarges upon them; so full was he of that which is all our salvation, and ought to be all our desire. The call of the gospel is a holy call, making holy. Salvation is of free grace. This is said to be given us before the world began, that is, in the purpose of God from all eternity; in Christ Jesus, for all the gifts that come from God to sinful man, come in and through Christ Jesus alone. Those who cleave to the gospel, need not be ashamed, the cause will bear them out; but those who oppose it, shall be ashamed. Thou hadst a soul committed to thee; how was it employed? in the service of sin, or in the service of Christ? A good man will seek to do good. The day of death and judgment is an awful day. And if we would have mercy then, we must seek for it now of the Lord. [This found here (at the bottom of the page… listed under commentary) and is an abstract from Matthew Henry’s commentary for 2 Timothy 1:7]
The bigger view of Jesus Christ was He was who He claimed to be… and the prophecy, miracles and teachings reveal the truth of this statement. Prophecy made by Daniel, in Daniel 9:24-26, referred to the coming Messiah and exactly when He’d come. The link is provided through http://www.matthewmcgee.org… and once you get there go down to #1., Daniel’s prophecy of the 70 weeks, read A and B and the two (2) paragraphs below it. The miracles of Jesus were also widely known… here is a list of them by ‘life of christ’ and for easy viewing. The teachings of Jesus were indeed counter cultural in their manner of what was: understood of God, by God and coming from God… and was not received well with those in power. Here are some of the varied reasons found here (also from ‘life of christ’)… and strongly advised to do more than ponder these teachings.

27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.
Read Proverbs 14
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
It is my heart felt prayer this ‘Passover’ you will not let the very thought of God get in your way to the truth of His plans for your own salvation. There are so many people today… thinking I have no time for God, I’m to busy for God or even worse- there is no God. Yes… there is a God, and His name is Everlasting Counselor, Prince of Peace and God Almighty- Jesus is His name. Do you know God as your own (personal) Savior yet? I pray you will consider the words placed carefully for your benefit- life eternal (salvation has come). You will consider these words, won’t you? (D.V.)
Your Brother in Christ Jesus,
P.S. I wish the world over, all mankind, to know the difference between love and hate… and to make their own choice- with love or not. Know the choice you make to come with the consequences from your choosing- so choose wisely!
