It has come to my attention, if not by interested parties [believers], in things of times to come. In particular… the notion or thought of the rapture being a possible false doctrine, something that truly needs to be understood by ‘the body of Christ’ today. This page of information is what started this ball rolling… please look below…
Many are the thoughts of man [even within the body of Christ/the believers of Jesus as being ‘the Son of God and God Himself] and numerous are the interpretations of the very scripture we know to be called the word of God [the Bible]. I feel to know God more it is necessary to focus on God to attain a better sense of discernment of God and what the Spirit of God [the Paraclete/the comforter] would have you come to know- let alone keep firmly in your personal belief structure. In order to fully understand the beginnings of something… one must continually refer back to where these things began and form a conclusion from the information presented. Even the Bible tells us to test the word of man against what is told us in scripture… to then tell if something is of God or from God Himself before we believe it to be truth or truthful. Look below…
Ezekiel 13:6 (King James Version) They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
Romans 15:8 KJV Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
1 Corinthians 11:19 KJV For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
For this end [to know more clearly] we will look at: the source of these beginnings [God’s and man’s], see what is being looked at, and why, as well as the pitfalls to mincing this down to simple mistakes many can and do look at when focusing on this issue of a premillennial or postmillennial occurrence called ‘the rapture.’ Here goes!
I firmly believe the end of man’s days [or the end times] began once the prophecy concerning Israel becoming a nation once more [officially and recognized by the world and having her own sovereignty]. This began in 1948 with prophecy being fulfilled, concerning the Jewish people, and the restoration of the Nation of Israel and God’s chosen people.
Mark 13:28 KJV Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
To the matter of Margaret McDonald and her involvement with the manifested charismatic experiences [speaking in tongues or utterances] and the rapture; which may have caused some to form their own opinion [with or without consideration to what extent implications could affect doctrine] about what might happen to the body of Christ: prior to, during or after the coming millennial reign. First one must acknowledge we are not in a war against other humans alone [or simply the beliefs they have] but we are in the middle of an ongoing war that started in heaven. This war does effect the very souls of all mankind. Does it not say in scripture we war against principalities…
Ephesians 6:12 KJV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
I’ve written about ‘the rapture‘ and the formation and ‘restoration of the Nation of Israel‘ before but this will cover new information on both of these subjects… being so entwined together as to be quite directly related to one another.
For the most part, from the writings of John Nelson Darby [Famous preacher and father of the modern rapture doctrine and premillennialism], a very notable religious Author and Pastor [with works (look here for his writings on the New Testament) still looked on with reverence], comes the viewpoint of Dispensationalism– and the many variants to this same belief. John Darby was also a founding member of a group called,”The Plymouth Brethren. These views were expounded upon by C.I. Scofield, through ‘the Scofield Reference Bible.’ One must realize (I would hope) there is more to scriptural writings than what we all recognize today [or as what is contained within ‘the Bible’] and it is known as ‘the Apocrypha‘ [scriptural writings not canonized], and is still used today by various christian groups.
Historically, by man and God, the belief of premillennialism has been around before St. Irenaeus (c. 130-202), an ante-Nicean Age believer in this philosophy [well before John Darby was ever born]. In order to be understood as a set structure to this belief [if emphasis is placed on ‘Harpazo’ (to be caught up)] then we must start in scripture where it is first used, see below… and please note I’m using Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance here.
Genesis 22:13 KJV And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Ephesians 2:8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Matthew 24:40 (King James Version) Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luke 17:35 (King James Version) Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[two in one bed–the prepared and unprepared mingled in closest intercourse together in the ordinary walks and fellowships of life, when the moment of severance arrives. Awful truth! realized before the destruction of Jerusalem, when the Christians found themselves forced by their Lord’s directions ( Luke 21:21 ) at once and for ever away from their old associates; but most of all when the second coming of Christ shall burst upon a heedless world.] This taken from #34, on this page.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 KJV For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
(This is a comparison with other versions, and Commentary by Matthew Henry)
1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 (King James Version) 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Corinthians 15:23 KJV But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
Please allow me to get back on track here [this is to be a Study on ‘the rapture’ and its possibility of being false doctrine] and in order to establish what God says about ‘being caught up’ [delivered or saved]. Is it entirely possible [plausible] that the notion of ‘rapture’ stems from translation to translation, i.e. Greek [harpazo] to Latin [raptus]… and then to English [rapture]? If this is something that could be a factor, then (and only then) it is something that is a surety [an actual happening we shall expect] we will be saved but the real question comes from the timing of this event. As best that I can tell… scripture does tell us we will be delivered [saved from the wrath of God] and spared this event, and not so for those that do not believe in Jesus as being the Son of man [the Christ/the son of God/God almighty].
In the Torah [in the Bible the Book of Exodus] the Jews were delivered from Egypt [a striking parallel exists here with the plagues and the great tribulation] with “the Passover” bearing strong significance. It was the lamb’s blood that marked the doors of their homes, signifying belief in God, and doing what He said to do to be saved from what plans God had in store. Do you not see the obvious parallel to the end times here? It is our belief in Jesus, and He crucified on Passover…
John 1:29 KJV The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Exodus 12:27 KJV That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Matthew 24:9 KJV Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
Revelation 20:4 KJV And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Isaiah 66:5 KJV Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
If Jesus was our Paschal Lamb and we, by accepting Him in our belief today [as being the Son of God He claimed He was], it will be by His hand we will be saved [delivered/caught up with], and Paul was so right when he said…
Philippians 1:21 KJV For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
(please look here for comparisons to other scripture versions and sound Commentary as well)
If we wait for rapture and think it will come before God’s return… we might have been deceived by questionable doctrine [thoughts by man, fanned to gain popularity and emotional connection]. As to mention the issue with the number of the beast… well, that will be reserved for another Study. I pray you might come to your own conclusions and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the truth God has gifted us with. You will won’t you… at least think about it? (D.V.)
Your Brother in Christ Jesus,
P.S. I must add a couple of things here to feel a full sense of the completeness of the Spirit within me. Over and over the scriptures tell me of the second coming of Christ Jesus [not a third coming… a fourth or anything more]. The age of man does draw nearer and nearer to completion but when the time is full [this at God’s own choosing] God will do what God will do- and it will be done rightly. God is never wrong… nor does He not complete what was begun. Even in Ecclesiastes it is said,”A time to be born, and a die to die…
Ecclesiastes 3:2 KJV A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Matthew 13:30 KJV Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Revelation 14:15 KJV And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
Should it be found to be true the bride will be spared, I will not be disappointed and the joy of God’s glory will shine on my face. If God in His divine mercy sees fit to have me go until this life ends… the joy of God’s glory will shine on my face. Maranatha.
