Form and function… these are the thoughts for us all today… form and function. We have been fashioned (created) in God’s own image… to provide what function? Our function is to please God… not to please ourselves. Seeking to please only ourselves we maintain the thought and elevate the function of ourselves, to disregard the importance God holds to us… His relationship is slighted. It is His relationship to us that is the most important part of ‘form and function,’ our functionality here… and our functionality to come. If we were to only worry about our form (our flesh) while we are living then this is all we will see of this relationship called,”form and function.”
To continue on with a life that cares more for the form of religion, going through the motions of belief, is not healthy either. It removes God from the equation also… to be living with the idea(s) of God and not actually knowing God. To not include God or get to know God is to deny God of His part in the process we call life. Love is to life what breath is to living. Sure we can live, even if we are living a lie, if it comes to form, living as if we are religious… although it might be a false belief. With this type of belief, where we are but living a lie, it would look real to those around us. We must include function with the form or God is still denied what He desires most from us… a relationship.
When it comes to God and man there is only one way to truly have a relationship with God, you must be known by God. In order for man to know God, man (or woman) must seek God in their lives. This is to go beyond form (or the shape of religion) and seek function… to then find out about Jesus and learn He gave His life for us, a laying down of His life to give us the chance for eternal life. The removal of our sin is this chance, the only chance, man (or woman) has to then be recognized by God as one of His own. Without accepting Jesus and His blood shed for us, the function of the life of Jesus and the sacrifice made for all of us. If God was to look on us… all He would see is our sin(s). God wants nothing to do with sin… it is about the sin and not you, He loves you but hates sin.
The biggest thing God desires most from all of us is a relationship: contact, praise, acknowledgment, reliance, obedience and His love. Love is both to form and function… a two way relationship. God wants us to know He loves us but He also wants our love in return. If our passion for God is not all inclusive, not something we will live for… lukewarm, we steal from God our heart… our love… and lose the sight of what God desires, and it is then we think more of ourselves than God. This is all leading back to the basic view of form and function, and we should never lose sight of God… it would be the time we need to repent and get back in God’s good graces.

Please come to know the point of ‘form and function’ has a direct and binding impact upon all our lives. If we do not accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior… we then are opposed to Him- found to be in His way… and nothing will stand in His way when it comes to: mankind, religion, nation or cultural understandings. His purpose has always been an eternal one [a Spiritual one], for the spirit of man is that which will live on.
If man is created in the image of God, and scripture tells us this is true, then we should also manifest this as part of our ‘form and function’ philosophy in practice. What I mean is this, it is best exemplified by the first of the ten commandments. By virtue of our image [being the same] as God’s own, we should proclaim His glory and give Him what He desires most from us, our: worship, praise, dedication and lives. As believers [followers] we are instructed to [willingly] do this, and it should be a natural progression for someone just coming to this belief. Belief leads to faith… faith leads to obedience, and obedience leads our path to serve the will of God- not our own.
Exodus 20:3 (King James Version)
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Deuteronomy 4:39 (King James Version)
39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

1 Thessalonians 1:9 KJVFor they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
Hebrews 9:14 KJV How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Form and function come together [for a believer/follower of Christ] when we set about serving Jesus and the will of the Father. There should be no stumbling block for us… to fulfill the will of the one that gives us life to begin with. I can only hope you will agree. (D.V.)
