“When a belief is challenged… and if the answer to the challenge is to eliminate the competition to the belief, by way of the messenger, is when either the believer cannot feel secure enough in their self or it is then presumed to be selfishly guarded or jealously keep for the control it offers.”
Russell D. Holder
“A belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses, it is an idea that possesses the mind”
Robert Auxton Bolton
To transcend beyond mere thoughts… to seeking… searching for the understanding God would share with us, as humans… with all our frailties and errors, is to open our minds to His concepts of: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. These are but things we should see in the actions of all people… all people that claim to know the spirit of God (my own people as well as those from around the world), and if any religion does not seize on these actions as having come from the Spirit of God then is the time I would have to question the essence of the spirit they contain. To desire to show any man or woman anything other than these specific fruits… then it comes from a spirit of control, and if it is not God that desires this it is man- for whatever measure of desire the man may have or for the goal intended.
God’s love is so great, for all the children of man… every one, that He sent His only son to die for us. No greater love has one for another than to lay down their life in order for another to gain from the sacrifice of the one giving of themselves for the sake of the rest. This is the love God has for each of us in the family called humanity. The Bible tells us over and over of this love God has for us as sinners, all mankind is in this boat, and it matters not our religions or our beliefs… and it can come down to if it was forced on you or you willing chose to accept it as your belief. God gave of Himself… so you might come to believe in Him, for once you believe in Him you can go beyond that belief to reach out and come to know God Himself. I know this sounds radical, and to some a strange concept, but this is the type of love Our Father in heaven has for us and our intercessor is Jesus Christ Himself. Praise God, we have a God that we can be personal with… for we are His adopted family. God knew us before we knew Him; because He created us before we were even born. He knows the number of hairs on your head, and in my case… it is not many to number, but it has always been God who loved us… without measure.
When our belief does finally go beyond the reaches of what our belief is contained in… the expansion to God’s truth is then to be realized as growth. God fully desires us to grow… in the spiritual things of this life, to see all humanity as worthy- no matter the condition or belief they hold. To this end, we must strive to set all of mankind free from the thoughts and actions that truly harm the spirit. These would be the limitations man can and does impose on another: for their beliefs (to constrict or contract), wrongs done to another (even for the sake of a religion, country or corporation), inhumanities not addressed (even in light of all the positive thoughts around the world) and worst… to the very things man does against God or His ordinances.
So what do you believe? Do you believe in love… then you should believe in the one God that is love? The one God that has shown what love is… and then rose from the dead and ascended into heaven… and said,“I will return.” The time is getting nearer to fulfill His claim… for the signs of the times clearly indicate the confusion of man will be upon us before this happens. I can think of no other time in human history when this was more apparent than today. All you have to do is look around you to see the truth of this. The world is attempting to confine belief as a sanitized [powerless] version, one to include pluralism in all forms… something pleasant for all ears that would listen [unholy].
As always, I would request that you pray first… prior to reading the scripture provided, that you might be granted a deeper understanding of God’s word and find the truth of God within your heart when it is over.
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:14-21
14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly. 15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’ ” 18 Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. 19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice. 20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever.”
Is not ‘belief’ then “faith,” and shall we not understand that with faith (belief acted upon) comes the showing of truth, the deliverance from our problems comes from and through God Himself. Once you have experienced it in a personal way… you should then give thanks and praise for the ways of God are to train us to do this willingly and often. I hope you will agree with me. (D.V.)
Your Brother in Christ Jesus,
P.S. I would add here the difference between choice (something freely chosen) and something forced on us is to exercise our right to free will or succumb to the will imposed on us. God gave us “free will” and would never demand we love Him, this is something we must choose to do and it is found to be a delight to God when we do.
