Since this is the carry over [continued discussion] for the body and blood of Christ, this portion will be centered on the blood of Christ. We have been told in scripture to remember in observance, being partakers of the body and the blood, as told by Jesus at the last supper. The significance of this is to be: remembered [a reminder], a participant [actively involved] and with reverence [high regard and great respect]. I believe when this takes place one cannot forget the importance of the one being remembered here, Jesus Christ Himself, for the LORD should be placed first in our life- being our God and King of our lives. We should never forget we are coming willingly here, having chosen to be His follower… seeing the importance of His life and how He has impacted our life, for this is told us to observe the truth of His significance to us directly.

If meaning to this, the body and blood of Christ is to be remembered, bears any importance, may it be found as a vital influence on our very lives today- for life is found in the blood of the living. Without blood… life itself is not sustainable. I will repeat the opening scriptures here, as in the first lesson, to grant a deeper view to this and the consequence of the authority granted us in the very words Jesus used as He told us to do them.

1 Corinthians 11:24 KJV And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1 Corinthians 11:25 KJV After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

I will mention here to take notice of the state of the bread [it was broken… for you], and the significance here is direct reference to the condition of His body before the sacrifice was made for us all on the cross.

Leviticus 17:11 KJV For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

John 6:53 KJV Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Ezekiel 3:18 KJV When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

When we are told to tell the world ‘The Good News of the Gospel’ we are called to tell the whole world, not just people we think God would have us tell but all mankind. Were we not also found in a state of wretchedness ourselves… a place of need when we found out about the Gospel? Yes, all have sinned and been found in a condition less than desirable by God Himself.

1 Corinthians 4:6 KJV And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

Psalm 14:3 KJV They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 3:10 KJV As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

When we see there is no life worth living, as we are seen by the eyes of God, for we are to sin as sin is in us all… this is because we have been born into it. Jesus said,”Unless you are born again you cannot see the Kingdom of God,” paradise or heaven.

John 3:3 KJV

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:7 KJV Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 Peter 1:23 KJV Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

There is great significance found in the reference to blood, and greater still to the purpose of it used as a sacrifice… especially when the blood of a sacrifice was used to: represent our belief in Him as God, show a sign of this being true and what importance to observe the conditions of our belief as a means of our own preservation in the life we have been given. We just had Easter… and I do choose to see it as “the signs of Passover” anew. The Passover, in the Old Testament, was a reference to the Jews when they were yet in Egypt [in captivity]. See below…

Exodus 12:5 (King James Version) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

Exodus 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

Exodus 12:12 & 13 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

2 Kings 23:21 KJV And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

Ezra 6:20 KJV For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

Matthew 26:2 KJV Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

Luke 22:15 KJV And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

As Jesus said in 1 Corinthians 11:25 [listed above with link],”… this is the new covenant… .” A covenant is the promise of God, something that is not and cannot be broken; furthermore, being the new covenant also means it does away with the need for the old covenant of which it replaces.

John 1:29 KJV The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Revelation 7:17 KJV For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Here is where we learn of drinking of the blood, for I do firmly believe Jesus was referencing “living waters” are come to man by His own sacrifice to be made… once and for all.

Jeremiah 17:13 KJV O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

Hebrews 10:10 KJV By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Proverbs 6:17 KJV A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

Genesis 15:6 KJV And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Isaiah 42:6 KJV I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

Isaiah 45:8 KJV Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.

Psalm 71:19 KJV Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!

If the blood contains life and our living forever, as told us in John 3:16…

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,

comes from accepting the blood of His life shed for us as the one time event for all mankind to experience- it is my heart felt prayer you might come to know this same passion held for Jesus as I do. Life is found best when living… a life more abundant than any can ever experience without God [Jesus]. Jesus came to set us free, as in the Passover… for the deliverance of man from the bondage of sin. This is the only way [as I remind you, Jesus said,”I am the way, truth and life.”] mankind can be freed from the clutches of sin, for the flesh would have us satisfy itself before any other. God desires our hearts here… to do things that remind us of Him to be first in our lives. I hope you’ll agree with me on this. (D.V.)

Your Brother in Christ Jesus,
