When it comes to doing what is right (the spirit) against doing what is wrong (the flesh), as it regards the nature of man, we have been told and warned in scripture. The best example of this is found in Ephesians 6:12… and further defined in James 4:4 (and I’ll list them in with the scripture provided for this Study), and it includes the distinct separation between the spirit of man and the flesh of man. Since it could be said the thoughts of man reside in the flesh of man… the thoughts can be swayed (tempted) by the flesh- as to determining what the flesh cries out for or not. What we desire can and will be a struggle, as human beings… each and every one of us, and the struggle we are facing is not just one of flesh and blood- it is principalities we go against (forces of both good and evil). Little wonder why temptation can affect us so but the effects of any sin can be devastating.

The hope of growth rests on the shoulders of those most susceptible to peer pressure… our kids, and it is due to that factor, alone, we need to ensure they will be strong enough to survive the cultural influence they will face. It is not ‘if they will face it… for it is a surety they will,’ and they need to be ready, empowered and sure. They need to be: sure footed, clear minded and strong in their conviction in Christ Jesus… or they will fail. To train the youth of today, those already being inculcated through the educational system, is but one of the most important things we can and should do… to ensure ‘the great commission’ reaches this generation- before it is to late. It comes down to the methods we are to use for their preparation. I recommend these three key points: dedication (yours… on their behalf), training and discipline. For this reason… I will share, to God’s glory for us all, the passages I find the most relevant to put forth.

As always, I would request that you pray first… prior to reading the scripture provided, that you might be granted a deeper understanding of God’s word and find the truth of God within your heart when it is over.
_______________

Scripture: first in reference to what was added above…
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

and James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

And he said , Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said , My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. 9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order , and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

The goal is seen here, where you will find the good children described and listed with many definitions and descriptions to them… and for God’s greater glory.

We must be active in our concerns for our children, and to be truly effective we must also have the faith, and hope, in a loving example shown throughout our lives for our children to see. We learn best by example and the very children we will come to depend on must have been shown these truths, and they have been clearly seen and understood. Be the model they will copy and they will have seen what to do… first hand, neither forgetting or forsaking these lessons.

Your Brother in Christ Jesus,

Russ
